Jump into the harbor!
What is a festival by the harbor without a trip into the blue waves? When the Culture Harbor Festival arrives in Nordhavn on Sunday, August 27th, you can take a dip in a temporary dipping area at Orientkaj.
The Culture Harbor Festival's program is filled with activities that offer you new experiences in and around the harbor. There's music, theater, excursions, creative workshops, movement, and water sports. And if you feel like swimming, you can do that too.
In celebration of the Culture Harbor Festival, a mobile dipping area will be sailed to Orientkaj.
"We want to provide the festival guests with some unique experiences in the harbor we all know. They can get up close to the history of the harbor and life both on the waves and beneath the surface of the sea. And of course, it's only natural that they should be able to take a dip in the harbor themselves, even in a place like Orientkaj, where you normally can't swim," says project manager at the Culture Harbor Festival, Esther Jexen Dall.
It's also possible to get into the water from the permanent facility at Teglholm Brygge on Saturday, August 26th.
If you're interested, you can also experience sauna infusion either before or after your dip in the water.
What is a dipping area?
A dipping area is a small, mobile facility that can be moved around as needed and used for events, for example. The dipping area is also suitable for winter bathing, as it has an adjustable grid at the bottom. There are also permanent dipping areas, such as at Teglholm Brygge.
These zones are delimited facilities and have rescue equipment.
Swimming is at your own risk. There are patrolling lifeguards at Teglholm Brygge and Orientkaj.
New harbor app
In the summer of 2023, By & Havn have launched an app for those who swim, paddle, sail, and fish in the harbor. Here, you can find information about the nearest bathing area, current conditions, water temperatures, and much more.
